Regulus calendula

top photo imageScientific name: Regulus calendula
Common name: Ruby-crowned Kinglet

The Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Regulus calendula), while fairly common on the farm, is always a pleasure to watch and photograph. It is not shy at all, despite being so tiny. It will often alight in bushes and trees so close that it makes it difficult to focus a telephoto lens on such a near object! However, it is constantly moving and flitting about, making it a difficult subject to photograph.
